Little things make a big difference. Happy dancing!
The Importance of Frame
Your "frame" is the structure of your arms and upper body. It is the bridge between you and your partner. A solid, comfortable frame allows for clear communication, making leading and following feel effortless. To understand the deeper side of partner communication, read our article on connection in Social Dancing.
How to Create a Good Frame
A good frame is active but relaxed. Here are the key points to focus on:
- Shoulders down and wide to release unnecessary tension.
- Elbows lifted to create space and alignment.
- Imagine the forearms gently spiraling outward.
- Imagine the upper arms gently spiraling inward.
Wenn du diese Gefühle kombinierst, verbinden sich deine Arme natürlich mit deinem Rücken, sodass du Körperbewegungen deutlich führen und folgen kannst. Übe deinen Rahmen in unseren Bachata-Kursen in Zürich.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Shoulders raised → Creates tension and stiffness.
- Elbows down → Weakens the frame and reduces connection to the partner.
Why it matters?
Tense shoulders and dropped elbows disconnect the arms from the back. This makes it harder to lead and follow, and can break the flow of the dance. If you are just getting started, our beginner guide covers all the essentials, or book a private lesson for personalised feedback.
