Cleaner technique, more flow: the Beginner 3 promise.

What you will learn

Bachata is built on 10 fundamental techniques of leading and following, taught across the beginner curriculum in your first year of dance classes. Beginner 2 and 3 then open the door to Bachata Sensual.

  1. Diagonal and torsion steps

Steps that travel on the diagonal and turn through the body: the ground that sensual movement stands on.

  2. Caída (dip)

The dip, prepared and supported so both partners stay in control from the entry to the way out.

  3. Pendulum energy

The swinging energy that carries a movement from one side to the other and back, led without force.

  4. Contra-rompe techniques

The rompe led against your partner’s direction: contrast and control that open a new family of figures.

  5. Partnerwork combining fundamentals

Figures that chain the fundamentals you now own into one continuous dance.

Beginner 3 is the bridge into the Sensual track. Finish it, and Bachata Sensual Foundation is your next room.

Is this your class?

“I know my basic and my simple turns. I want more.”

You are in the right room. Around 8 months to 1 year of dance classes is the sweet spot: comfortable with the basic steps, timing, and simple partnerwork. Comparing levels? The weekly schedule shows the whole week.

“I am just starting out.”

Begin with Bachata Beginner 0, Mondays 19:30. It is the only beginner level running this season, and it starts from the very first step. The beginner guide helps you choose.

How a class works

Sixty minutes, one skill, many partners.

  1. 01
    Warm up & review

Shake off the day, settle in, and revisit what the room learned last week.

  2. 02
    The skill of the week

One movement, broken down solo: mechanics first, so it is clean and controlled.

  3. 03
    Into partnerwork

The same skill inside a combination you can take to any social.

  4. 04
    Rotate & dance

Partners rotate through the class, so you leave having danced with everyone.

Good questions

Do I need any experience?

Yes, a little. Beginner 3 assumes roughly 8 months to 1 year of Bachata: a comfortable basic, timing, and simple partnerwork. It is not a course for absolute beginners; Beginner 0 is the right start in that case.

Can I join in the middle of a block?

Ask us before you join mid-block. We will tell you honestly whether the current week is a good entry point. The trial class is free either way.

Do I need a partner?

No. Partners rotate throughout the class, so you dance with everyone. Most people come alone.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and shoes that let you turn. Clean sneakers are perfect. Coming straight from work? A change of shirt, deodorant, and mints make the hour nicer for everyone. Our what-to-wear guide has the details.

What if I miss a week?

You can declare up to two planned absences at registration and one sick day per pass, and we extend your pass by that class day. The full policy is in our terms.
