This weekend, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, AXcent Dance will represent Zurich at the Open Swiss Championship 2026 in Solothurn as judges for Salsa and Bachata. For our studio, this is more than a calendar note. It is a recognition of the technical standard, musical knowledge, and teaching integrity that we bring into every Bachata class in Zurich.

An Official Swiss Dance-Sport Stage

The championship is listed in the Swiss IDO tournament system as the Offene Schweizermeisterschaft in Solothurn on 9.5.2026. The same tournament listing names a broad field of categories, including Salsa, Salsa Solo, Salsa Group, Salsa Formation, Bachata, Bachata Solo, Bachata Group, Bachata Formation, Bachata Jack and Jill, Bachata Dominicana, Bachata Sensual, Bachata Urban, Kizomba, Merengue, Caribbean Show, Rueda, and Synchrodance.

The public event page confirms the date, time, and location: May 9, 2026, from 09:30 to 23:55 at Konzertsaal Solothurn. It also describes the event as a varied dance experience with Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Merengue, Jack and Jill competitions, group formations, and show categories. You can read the official ticket and event information on Eventfrog.

Why IDO Context Matters

IDO Switzerland is the Swiss national structure connected to the International Dance Organization. Its own organization page lists specialized Swiss dance bodies, including Swiss Salsa Federation for Salsa, Bachata, Jack and Jill, Merengue, Caribbean Dances, Caribbean Show, and Salsa Rueda de Casino, alongside SFBT, the Schweizerischer Fachverband Breitensport Tanz. This gives the championship a formal national framework rather than a casual social-event context.

Internationally, the International Dance Organization describes itself as a non-profit world dance and dancesport federation with more than 90 member and contact nations. Judging at an event connected to that ecosystem means working with standards that reach beyond one local scene.

What This Says About AXcent Dance

Being invited to judge Salsa and Bachata at the Swiss Championship is a strong signal for our students. It shows that AXcent Dance is not only active in social dancing and weekly classes, but also trusted in a competition environment where timing, technique, musicality, partnering, presentation, and fairness all matter.

That matters inside our studio as well. When we teach Bachata, Bachata Sensual, Salsa concepts, musicality, leading, following, and partner connection, we are not teaching isolated moves. We are building dancers with the same attention to quality that is required when evaluating competitors on a Swiss championship floor.

Representing Zurich Bachata

We are proud to represent our Zurich Bachata community at this event. It is an opportunity to support dancers, honour the work of organizers, and help connect Swiss social dance culture with a broader international dance-sport standard. If you train with us, this is part of what you are connected to: a studio that keeps learning, contributing, and showing up where quality matters.
