Afro dance is joining the AXcent Dance fall program.
AXcent Dance is preparing a new beginner Afro course starting this September in Zurich. It will be created for people who want to discover Afro dance with warmth, musicality, and a clear sense of guidance.
Places may be limited once the final course details are released. Therefore, students who already feel curious can register their interest early and receive the first update when registration opens.
A grounded, joyful way to connect with rhythm.
Afro dance is rooted in African movement culture and carries a grounded, organic energy. In this course, the focus will stay practical and musical: feeling the rhythm, moving with ease, and learning how the body can become more relaxed, expressive, and alive.
It is a beautiful choice for anyone who wants to enjoy Afro dance on its own. It is also a powerful complement for Bachata dancers who want to improve body movement, musicality, grounding, and natural flow. If you already follow our weekly Bachata schedule, this course can open a fresh layer of movement quality.
Led by a highly experienced teacher.
The new Afro course will be guided by a highly experienced teacher who brings real dance knowledge, musical understanding, and a structured approach to class. Students will not be left to copy movements without context. They will be guided with care, clarity, rhythm, and attention to how the movement feels in the body.
Expect a class environment that feels welcoming and professional: enough structure to build confidence, enough freedom to enjoy the music, and enough personal warmth to make starting feel easy.
You can start here even if you know nothing about Afro.
This is a beginner course, so you can start comfortably with other people who are also discovering Afro dance for the first time. You do not need previous Afro experience, and you do not need to be a Bachata dancer to begin.
At the same time, the course will feel especially valuable for dancers who want to bring more body awareness into partner dance, whether they are building foundations through our beginner guide or already training more regularly.
