Common Questions

Do I need a partner?
No, you do not need a partner! Most of our students join solo. We rotate partners during class, which is the best way to learn quickly and meet people in our Zurich community.
Do I have to dance a specific role? Will there be enough partners?
You choose the role you want to learn: leading or following, regardless of gender. We rotate partners during class and keep the balance of leaders and followers in mind when confirming sign-ups, so you will always have someone to dance with, even if you come alone.
Are classes taught in English?
Yes, AXcent Dance is an English-speaking dance school in Zurich. Our international teachers lead all classes in English, making it perfect for expats and locals alike.
Is it too late to start dancing as an adult?
It is never too late! Our Adult Beginner Classes are specifically designed for those who think they have "two left feet." We break everything down step-by-step in a relaxed, fun environment.
Can I join a class anytime?
Yes! Our classes run continuously, so you can join our drop-in dance classes in Zurich anytime. No need to wait for a new semester to start. Just book a free trial.
What happens after the free trial?
If you enjoyed the class, you simply continue with the course. Courses run in 8-week blocks, and one course per week costs 210 CHF (175 CHF for students). Your first course sign-up comes with 15% off. You can compare all options on our registration page.
What happens in my first class?
Arrive about ten minutes early so we can welcome you. Every class starts with a short warm-up, then we break the basic step down together, and you rotate partners throughout. By the end of your first hour you will be able to dance your first figures to the music. Curious for more? Read our beginner guide.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in and clean shoes with a smooth sole are perfect. No dance shoes are required for your first class. For more detail, see our guide on what to wear for Bachata.
Where exactly is the studio, and how do I get there?
We are located at Hermetschloostrasse 73, 8048 Zurich Altstetten, just two minutes on foot from the Tram 2 and Bus 31 stops. You can open the studio in Google Maps or find directions on our contact page.
